Our Journey to Pregnancy

Ryan and I have been married for 4 years now, and from the beginning we knew we would wait to have children until we were sure we were ready. It was all apart of our plan. And when we finally decided to start trying, we thought it wouldn't be long before we would be sharing the good news with everyone. Little did we know we were about to learn a very important lesson in life: God has a plan for everyone, and though at times hard to see, it's tailored to be the best way for you to live the gift of life.

Ryan and I thought this would be an easy step in our life... not so much parenthood (of course we know that's going to be a challenge of its own kind) but just getting to that point. We thought, you get off birth control, you have sex, and then it happens. For some that does work...sometimes all too often or even with fewer steps. But that wasn't in the cards for us. Soon both Ryan and I knew more about a woman's cycle and conception than most need to. We took all the advice, research, and tips we could. I could go on and on telling you about that part of the adventure, but I'll spare you the details.

The emotions we experienced as a couple going through this were close to traumatic. Every cycle started with high hopes only to be let down with feelings of doubt that it would ever happen, and soon the hope began to vanish all together, but we kept trying because our faith in God gave us the strength to. We went through a lot, but also grew as a couple. God works in mysterious ways. I can look back on the experience now and realize how useful the experience was to get us to where we are today. We appreciate this pregnancy more than anyone can know. We are thankful for what we had to go through because it brought us closer together and taught us to appreciate all the little things in life. And no matter what happens, its comforting to know that it happens because God has a plan for us, and we know to trust that now.

At first we didn't want to share the hardship with people, and only share the good news, but we realized that we aren't the only ones that go through hard times, and this may be comforting for people to know. I know I felt better when I heard stories that were similar to mine. So for those of you going through something hard in your life, something that seems hopeless, or is making you feel down, please know that it's all a part of your journey to great things. "THIS TOO SHALL PASS" and one day you too will realize why God had it as part of his plan for you. Besides the more you think negatively, the more negative your life becomes. Any situation can become brighter if you just think more positively.

And so begins our journey to parenthood :)
